As power returns to more neighborhoods, more employees are returning to work, and more restaurants are doing the same.

The problem now: food.

“The big suppliers weren’t delivering until today,” Jay Johnson of Bubba’s Roadhouse in Cape Coral said Wednesday.

"Some of the places with power could get by with the food they had, but now we're all waiting for deliveries."

Many restaurant wholesalers, like Sysco and Gordon Food Service, weren’t able to resume delivery service until Wednesday, meaning restaurants that ran out of food had to sit and wait until more came.

“We’re out of everything,” a server at PrimaFila Pizza in downtown Fort Myers said late Wednesday morning. “We’re hoping to get more food soon.”

The good news is more restaurants are coming online in places such as Lehigh Acres, northwest Cape Coral and the islands of Matlacha, where a handful of eateries reopened Wednesday.

The even-better news is curfew has been lifted for most parts of Lee County, meaning you can now dine out past 8 p.m. in Fort Myers without fear of a citation. Or sip a late-night cocktail (and then hail an Uber) past 11 p.m. in Cape Coral.

“Downtown is open for business,” Fort Myers restaurateur Nils Richter said via text after getting news of the lifted curfew.

“We are reminding every guest leaving late to be extra careful, and we are happy to do that.”

"These guys have been working a long long time. "All restaurants will open at different times, depending on how each one was impacted, team member availability, etc.," spokesman Sean Ward said via email. "While we can’t give an exact timeline for all of them, we’re encouraging customers to contact their local restaurant by visiting chick-fil-a.com."

Domino's Pizza: According to a patron, every store in Fort Myers and Cape Coral opened Monday to get food to hungry customers. The stores plan to be open again today.

Dunkin' Donuts: The following stores in Lee are open— 2221 Santa Barbara Blvd. #101, Cape Coral; 2475 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers; 1662 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral; 8291 Dani Drive, Fort Myers; 1715 Cape Coral Parkway W., Cape Coral; 8951 Daniels Parkway, south Fort Myers; 20290 Grande Oak Shoppes Blvd., Estero

Five Guys: Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. at 1860 NE Pine Island Road, Cape Coral. These three locations reopen noon-10 p.m. today: 1900 Tamiami Trail, Port Charlotte; 3268 Forum Blvd., Fort Myers; 16230 Summerlin Road, south Fort Myers; and Coconut Point at 23050 Via Villagio, Estero.

Pinchers Crab Shack: Reopening San Carlos Parkway, Fort Myers Beach, Marco Island, downtown Fort Myers and Cape Coral locations today."We are looking forward to welcoming families and offering them a delicious meal, as well as an opportunity to relax with their loved ones."

Subway: Several area stores have reopened including these in Cape Coral: 1616 Cape Coral Parkway W.; 3038 Del Prado Blvd.; 428 Del Prado Blvd. N.

Wendy's: "Our franchisees will begin reopening restaurants within the next 48 hours. We look forward to serving our customers soon," a spokeswoman said via email Tuesday.
