By the time you're of high enough level to kill VanCleef in the Deadmines, the first few Deadmines quests will be well into the green. So consider planning multiple runs into instances. In my experience, having a full party is more important than being of slightly higher level. I would expect five 24s to have an easier time taking out VanCleef than four 26s. Class balance is not as important as one might expect, and taking groups of different compositions can make the playing experience more varied. On one run, you might have a mage or two providing crowd control and higher damage; on another run, you might instead have a lot of tanking, leading to more epic battles. It's good to reevaluate your playing strategy when going into an instance. Review all those abilities you never use while soloing and think about whether they might be more useful...
